About the Role
As Head of AI Engineering, you will be responsible for establishing and scaling the engineering function. This includes defining technical architecture, hiring and managing an engineering team, and setting up the infrastructure required to develop and deploy AI applications efficiently.
This is both a leadership and hands-on role: you will write code, design systems, and establish best practices while also shaping the long-term technical strategy and team culture. You’ll work closely with product and AI strategy leads to transform client needs into scalable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Define and oversee the technical architecture for AI applications, including front-end, back-end, and data infrastructure.
- Establish best practices for version control, code review, testing, and documentation.
- Set up environments for development, staging, and production, as well as CI/CD pipelines.
- Build a technical stack optimized for scalability, security, and maintainability.
Hands-On Execution
- Contribute code and participate in product development.
- Set up infrastructure for containerization, deployment, and AI model integration.
- Work on AI use cases, including prompt workflows, embedding pipelines, and vector search.
Team Building & Management
- Lead hiring for the engineering team, starting with Full-Stack, AI Application, and Data Engineers.
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture through mentorship and collaboration.
- Implement lightweight, scalable processes for task management and delivery.
Quality & Delivery
- Own the engineering roadmap and align it with product priorities.
- Conduct code reviews and provide technical oversight to maintain high standards.
- Drive continuous improvement across workflows, development velocity, and system reliability.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
- Expertise in back-end and/or full-stack development, including API design, cloud services, and modern frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Python-based AI applications, particularly integrating LLMs via APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.).
- Familiarity with AI application tooling (e.g., LangChain, vector databases, RAG workflows) is a strong plus.
- Strong DevOps knowledge, including Docker, CI/CD, and cloud deployments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Ability to balance speed and quality, with a bias for action and iteration.
- Experience in a consulting or project-based environment is a plus.
- Advanced English fluency with strong communication skills.
