About the Role
Our client in the Maritime Logistics sector is embarking on an ambitious greenfield R&D project that will drastically improve how containers are shipped globally. Building on their existing success, with over 6,000 global users already relying on their platform, this mature scale-up is now taking a bold step forward. The new initiative is rooted in cutting-edge developments in verifiable credentials, data spaces, and the physical internet, aiming to set a new standard in trusted, secure, and scalable logistics infrastructure.
We’re looking for a hands-on Lead Software Architect to shape the architectural vision of this project and help bring it to life. This is an ideal role for a technical leader who’s passionate about emerging technologies and eager to help build a system from the ground up so not only architecting but also actively prototyping in the early stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own the software architecture vision for a new platform in the logistics tech space
- Prototype and build core backend and frontend components (hands-on development expected in the first year)
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements aligned with business needs
- Evaluate and, where necessary, challenge the current tech stack and architectural choices
- Drive implementation of key technologies related to data sovereignty, decentralization, and trust frameworks
- Coach and guide a growing development team over time
- Ensure code quality, documentation, and secure coding practices (OWASP)
- Contribute to long-term product and company strategy
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in backend development or equivalent seniority
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to define, articulate, and implement architectural vision
- Willingness to stay hands-on in development (especially during the first phase)

Backend:
Node.js, Express, Sequelize ORM, PostgreSQL, Mocha, NGINX, Hyperledger BESU, Docker, AWS
Frontend:
React, Material UI
Other Requirements & Pluses
- Experience with relational databases and modelling
- Familiarity with OAuth 2.0 and OWASP guidelines
- Understanding of decentralized systems and blockchain technologies
- Knowledge of verifiable credentials and data spaces is a strong plus
- Experience with Agile methodology and tools such as Atlassian suite
- Ability to write and maintain technical documentation
