About the Role
Our client is developing a Mobility Operating System that enables companies to optimize their electric vehicle fleets using real-time data, AI-driven automation, and IoT integration. The platform captures fleet usage data, calendar insights, and user preferences to make smart, automated decisions, such as vehicle allocation, fleet reduction, and predictive maintenance, creating a more efficient, sustainable, and profitable mobility ecosystem.
To drive this vision forward, our client is looking for a hands-on CTO who can lead the technical strategy while actively contributing to the codebase. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial role where the CTO will shape the product, define the architecture, and scale the tech team.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and oversee the technical architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Lead and align the development team (currently four engineers, a mix of senior and junior profiles), establishing best practices for agile development and collaboration.
- Contribute to coding efforts, as an early-stage startup, hands-on involvement is essential.
- Manage the technical roadmap, ensuring a balance between speed and long-term robustness.
- Enable rapid POC development, ensuring that small, high-impact experiments can be built and deployed in a week.
- Optimize workflows and team processes, ensuring strong alignment on priorities, sprint planning, and delivery cycles.
- Collaborate closely with the co-founders, proactively shaping the product vision and technical strategy.
Ideal Profile
- 5 to 10 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in computer science (a must-have).
- Ability to work from the office in Ghent 5 days per week.
- Previous experience as a Lead Engineer / Sr. engineer or Tech Lead, looking to take the next step into a CTO role.
- Fullstack expertise—comfortable switching between UI, backend, and infrastructure.
- Entrepreneurial mindset; proactive, resourceful, and able to shape and execute a mission.
- Strong architectural thinking; able to design a robust system that can scale with the company’s growth.
- Ability to work with limited resources and navigate uncertainty with resilience.
- Transparency & ownership; able to admit mistakes, move fast, and inspire confidence in the team.
- Excellent team leadership skills, with the ability to align, coach, and empower engineers to deliver at a high level.
